While Organising adventure tours to Eastern
Himalaya, we work with our own resources. This ensures conformity
with naturebeyond standard of service. Occasionally, individual
arrangements on adventure programs may differ slightly from
those described below. Full practical information on your program
will be sent to you before departure.
Preparing for your Tour -
Once you've booked with us we send you a detailed `Tour Brief
` to help you prepare properly for your tour. It includes equipment
and clothing lists, fitness and training recommendations and
advice on health.
Food
and Drink - wholesome food prepared with hygiene is
important for your well-being during the trek. Our cook is well
trained in food hygiene. Our food is a combination of tinned
international ingredients along with fresh locally produced
ones. We try to keep the tinned food to the minimum since it
does not contribute to the local economy and adds a lot to the
garbage. Sterilised drinking water is always made available.
We do not prefer using disposable bottled water since this adds
to the problem of waste in remote areas. Bottled water is made
available only when specifically required by the guests.
Travel Insurance - It is
essential for you to be covered by travel insurance. naturebeyond
does not organize travel insurance but recommends them highly
for its guests.
Your
safety & well-being on trek - Our staff are trained
in mountain safety and first aid and a medical kit accompanies
each group on trek. Our itineraries offer sufficient time for
acclimatization. In some treks we also carry oxygen cylinders
for extra peace of mind. More information on health related
issues is available in the trekking health related issues page.
Altitude Sickness - also known as "Acute
Mountain Sickness", should be treated in time. It is effect
of altitude on those who ascend to rapidly to elevations above
3000 meters. The best solution for altitude sickness is fast
descent to lower altitude. The common symptoms of altitude sickness
include headache, loss of appetite and sleeplessness. Know more
about altitude sickness
Hotel
Accommodation - We use a number of hotels during our
treks. Each of these hotels are personally visited and checked
by naturebeyond members. The hotels are available in this website
along with their detailed tariff and photographs. You may check
our hotels section for further
information on this. Trekkers may choose their accommodation
from the available and suggested hotels as per their budget.
Trek Stuff - Our treks are
accompanied by a team of porters, who carry your personal luggage,
the trek equipment and food. There would also be naturebeyond
guide who will looks after all the trek arrangements from the
moment you set off to your return at the end of the trek. Most
of the people accompanying you are either direct employees of
naturebeyond or has been trekking with us for quite some time.
They are well aware of our standards.
Trekking Seasons - The best
time to trek is February to Mid June (the spring season) and
September to December (Autumn season). Treks to lower altitude
destinations are also organized during winter months. In fact
winter is often preferred because of lesser tourist crowd in
the common trek routes. During the monsoon months of July and
August treks in the hills are normally not organized since heavy
rain and accompanying landslides are not uncommon in the region
leading to road closer and delay for trekkers, visibility during
these months are also quite poor. |
