Tendong Hill at an altitude is a popular short
trek in South Sikkim. The
trek originates from Dantham Market and takes two hours to reach
Tendong. The trek goes through thick forest in Tendong sanctuary.
The sanctuary has a rich natural vegetation with exclusive flora
and fauna.
Tendong
is a dormant volcano located at an altitude of 8,500 ft. From
Tendong one can enjoy the spectacular view of Chola Range on
the east, the Singalila
range and the towering Kunchenjunga on the west, and Gurudongmar
peak with other mountains on North
Sikkim in the north-east. The view of vast rolling plains
of Bengal is also very attractive. Situated on a hilltop Tendong
offers breathtaking views of both sunrise and sunset over the
mountains.
