Short Descriptions
This 7 days trek will take you to an unexplored Himalayan forest
in Neora Valley National
Park, a unique biodiversity with rare species of flora and
fauna. The entire trek goes through the uninhabited virgin tracks
of sub-tropical alpine forest and offers panoramic snow views
of the Himalayan ranges. The trek ends at Samsing a picturesque
ethnic village in lower Kalimpong hills.
Day
01: Pick up from Kalimpong
or Siliguri and
drive to Lava, a small
village at the base of the Neora Valley Park. Free day at Lava
and explore the natural beauty. Overnight at Hotel at Lava.
Day 02: We enter the park after a 25kms jeep
journey through deep forests to road ending point called zero
point. Trek starts from here and through deep bamboo and pine
forests we reach at Camp Neora. Overnight at Camp. Day 03: Trek 03 hrs to Rache-la, 3152 m, and
on to Lake camp, 2000 m in 3 hrs. Day 04: Trek through dense moist forest to
Thusum. Most of the Thusum hill is still unexplored for its
inaccessible terrain. The rich vegetation n the area presents
a unique varaity of rare Himalayan species like Red Panda, Himalayan
Black bear and Bengal Tiger. Overnight at jungle camp. Day
5: Today’s trek passes through the untouched forests
of Neora Valley. Streams, huge mossy trees, unknown orchids
and colourful birds mark the wilderness of the route. The trek
reaches at Bhoteghar forest camp in the afternoon. Overnight
at camp. Day 6: Trek down to Samsing via Mouchuki beat.
Overnight at rest house at Samsing. Day 7: Pack up and drive to onwards destination
by car.
