Stakeholders
A. Naturebeyond will be primarily
responsible for designing, financing and executing the project
in collaboration with other agencies. The agency will be responsible
for promotion and marketing of the project and will also take
necessary measures to involve The Community Institutions in
managing the newly developed facilities. This will be done in
collaboration with NESPON, an environmental organization working
with the forest communities in North Bengal for last 10 years.
B. Institutions like Forest
Protection Committees / Eco Development Committees at the eco-tourism
sites will act as the community institutions. Where such institutions
do not exist as yet, the village members at the site concerned
will collectively form the agency. This agency will manage the
facilities at ground level wherever possible and will coordinate
all tourism activities originating at the facilities. It will
identify potential managerial staff and nature guides and send
them for training; organize
cultural performances and craft enterprises, run basic catering
at some of the facilities and will be responsible for day-to-day
maintenance of the facilities.
C. West Bengal Forest Department
will provide necessary clearances and permits at every level
for guided tours inside the protected areas.
D. The local N.G.O working
with the forest communities in the project area will liaison
with naturebeyond and NESPON and help build the capability of
community members through organizing necessary training programme.
