spectacular provisions to arrange picnic by the side of river
Tista. This is a common
picnic ground for the adventure lovers. naturebeyond was engaged
in building a eco-tourism resort at Kalijhora on the banks of
River Tista. The project was undertaken with the direct involvement
of local people, NESPON
an environmental NGO and Govt agencies. However the NHPC has
planned to build several dams in this belt including at Kalijhora.
As a result the eco-tourism project has been put on hold. Close
by are Peshok, famous for the confluence of Tista and Rangeet;
Mongpu reminiscent of association of the place with Rabindranath
Tagore; and Latpanchor is emerging as an excellent tourist destination. |
