There is no dearth of Good camping sites around the region. Go through the hills, almost any hillock or stream would provide you with locations that you may consider ideal for camping. Conversely if you are looking for organized camping grounds, they are non existent in the region.

naturebeyond does not recommend using untested grounds for camping for our guests. We always go for grounds where we have camped before. If we find a new place that seems interesting, our members will spend a couple of nights there and get acquainted with the locals before taking in guests to the camp site. The camp grounds that naturebeyond use is also not very few in number. Following are some indicators about possible choices rather than the full list of possible camping grounds.

waterfallThe rocky island camp deserves a special mention here. This is probably the only organized camping ground in the region. Situated in Samsing on the banks of River Murti, The place is run by a couple of nature lovers who developed the place by hand from scratch. Learn more about rocky island.

The other side of Murti river in Samsing has a beautiful hills of Kumai. The hills extends further to Bindu, Jhalong, Rongo, Goiribans, Todey Tangta and such others innumerable small uncharted villages. The region is a campers paradise and has several camping locations.

Kalijhora is a small village on the National Highway connecting Sikkim with Bengal. There is a large open ground on the banks of river Teesta which is ideal for camping. The place might get inundated in the future because of a dam is being built by NHPC here. So visit Kalijhora while you still can. More on Kalijhora

Latpanchar is a mostly unseen and rarely visited destination of the region. Located in close proximity to the Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary, there are several ideal camping grounds around Latpanchar. More on Latpanchar

KanchenjungaPedong in the Kalimpong hills has been the latest addition to the travel map of the region. There is a Hill top known as Tinchuley (not to be confused with another more popular eco tourism destination with similar name) that provide excellent 360 degree panoramic view of the hills and the plains. There is a nice camping ground close to Tinchuley. more on Pedong

Tiger Hill near Darjeelng is another known camping ground. In fact the mountain close to Tiger hill provides innumerable destinations for camping. about Tiger Hill
