Camping at Rocky Island
Samsing Rocky Island camp is a tent resort
on the bank of river Murti. The gorgeous river flows by the
side of Neora Valley National Park. The river has unearthed
massive rocks in its way along with natural water pools and
caves. This is the surrounding in which Rocky island camp is
located. Rocky island can be considered as an eco-tourism destination.
The campsite has semi-permanent kitchen, dormitory
and lavatory set up. Most of the accommodation is organized
in light tents. This allows guests to spend the night at a spot
of their choosing in the large open space of the campsite. The
Murti river and the rocks on its banks is an ideal place for
adventure activities like rock climbing, river crossing etc.
The Neora valley national park is just a mile away and is quite
suitable for short treks during the day.

is quite suitable for short treks. With special permission from
the forest department, treks inside the forest and accross to
Lava can also be organised from here. The area is famous for
its richness in avifauna. Bird-watching can be a great entertainment
around here.
A Car trip can be organized inside the Gorumara
National Park from here. Other destinations of Dooars such as
Chapramari forest, Jhalong, Bindu can be visited on a day tour.

Rocky island is naturebeyond favoured camping site. School
and other similar camps can be organised here. Various camping
activities are undertaken in these camps including basics of
rock climbing & rapling, trekking, camp hygiene, forest
& mountain manners, rescue and survival techniques, first
aid techniques etc. |
