New Elgin was built in 1885 hence given the status of heritage
hotel of the Queen of the Hills. In the raj era the this was
the summer retreat for the Maharaja of Coochbehar. The architecture
is of the Victorian era. The rooms of the hotels are designed
with wood paneling and floorboards. The furniture is made of
Burma teak and in each room there is a crackling log fireplace.
